{Guest Post} Getting the outside of your Home Spring Ready

Hey and happy Monday everyone!  {yes, I'm happy it's Monday}

I'm SO excited to have my very first guest poster!

I'm honored to have Grace from Inspired By Grace N today helping us get the outside of our homes ready for Spring.  Yay!!  Welcome Grace!

Spring is a great time to spruce up your home or living space. A few of the simple things you can do that will make a big difference in your home are discussed below.

Let's start with something quite fun, with a big payoff if you have the patience. Planting flower bulbs in the spring -- if you haven't already done so in the fall, or even if you have -- is a great way to spend a little time outdoors at the first sign of nice weather. A half a day is plenty of time to visit the store, buy some bulbs and plant them. Later in the spring and early summer you will appreciate your springtime planting.

Moving along to something a little less fun, but which will lighten things up considerably: window washing. Yes, after a winter of rain, sleet and snow, the exteriors of your windows in particular will need washing. But go ahead and wash inside as well. The improved visibility will brighten up your indoor space and make gazing out much better as well.

Take a look at window trim, both indoors and out, in the spring. Trim will always weather at a different pace than siding outdoors or than interior walls. Adding a crisp new paint job to window and door trim -- and you can always consider a color change as well -- will add a nice, crisp frame for those freshly-washed windows.

 If you have exterior doormats at your entryways, take a good look at them in the spring. If they are washable, consider that. If not, how well have they weathered the winter elements? Doormats and entryway rugs are not expensive and there are lots of options. Consider buying some new ones if you haven't done so in a while.

  Airing out your house or apartment is free; if it is a Hampton rental with a breeze, all the more beneficial. The only expense will be some lost heat if it's still cool outside. But there is nothing like opening up your windows and doors and letting the fresh air in after a long winter. Even if it means wearing a coat, or taking a walk and returning later, a good airing always signals spring.
